Three Classic Cocktails:
Kentucky Style
Kentucky has one of the richest and diverse distilling cultures in the world. Not only can you find virtually any type of spirit you like made in the Bluegrass State, but you can also re-imagine many of your favorite cocktails with a Kentucky twist. We’ll show you three possibilities below:
-1-
The Kentucky Mule
A drink typically associated with the capital of the largest country in the world, we’ve taken this immediately identifiable cocktail from Moscow to Frankfort.
2 oz your favorite bourbon (or your favorite KY vodka)
1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
Ginger beer to the top (try Freddie’s for a KY made favorite)
Garnish with a lime wedge and a mint sprig
-2-
The Kentucky Marg
If there’s one thing Kentuckians know about other Kentuckians that the outside world may not, it’s how much we love margaritas. Although there’s not a beach like this in Kentucky, we can give you a KY spin that is the next best thing.
2 oz Nulu Agave Reposado (aged in bourbon barrels)
1/2 oz Triple Sec (produced in KY, FYI)
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 agave syrup
Garnish with a lime wheel and a salted rim
-3-
The Kentucky Mojito
Although not as southern as some southern states, Kentuckians know a Bluegrass summer can be as hot and humid as they come. This classic rum cocktail will cool you off as you sit by the pool (or lake, river, or creek).
2 oz Blue Rook Cachaca (Brazilian white rum from KY)
1/2 oz Simple syrup
3-5 mint leaves to taste
1 oz Lime juice
Club Soda to top
Garnish with mint sprigs
